It’s a very special day for 140 area veterans, including one who took part in D-Day.

On Saturday, June 6th the veterans headed to Washington, D.C. to check out memorials built in their honor.

22 World War II veterans and 118 veterans of the Korean War are taking part in Saturday’s Honor Flight.

One of the vets on the trip, Bob Peschman, was a D-Day veteran — he came ashore at Utah Beach.

The Honor Flight left Saturday morning and returned to Mitchell International Airport just before 9 p.m. Saturday evening.
